THURSDAYS on Peterborough Street
You're welcome to visit us any Thursday from 9am - 5pm to muck in, do some mahi and korero. We have a shared lunch around 1pm, made from freshly picked produce from the farm (and koha if you can).
To participate simply come to the farm on Thursday. If you are a group of people wanting to visit, a heads up via email would be greatly appreciated.
A good time to arrive is 9am. There will be a health and safety briefing so please make sure you speak to a staff member and login on arrival.
The Mahi depends on the season and what is required to be done on the farm that day. This is set by our farm manager and supported by our farm staff and youth work staff. Things include weeding, pricking out seedlings, transplanting seedlings, worm farm maintenance, composting, harvesting produce, general site maintenance. We provide the tools, equipment and the learning environment.
There is a lot of positive and fun energy on the farm. So during our working sessions, we love to answer questions anyone has about growing food or wanting to further involve themselves in Cultivate to deepen their connection to the land and the community. There is so much to learn that is not only focused on the plants but transfers to how we care for ourselves, each other, our environment and the natural world around us.
Generally, a heads up via email letting us know that you're keen to come, including what time & how many would be great.
We are much looking forward to seeing you on the farm!
